Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Mockery's architecture, Android permissions, battery efficiency, and route simulation physics.

General & Product Philosophy

Is Mockery really 100% free and ad-free?

Yes. The creator built Mockery to solve real-world personal navigation, automotive signal degradation, and mobile QA testing challenges. Rather than packaging it with annoying interstitial ads or monthly recurring fees, the complete suite was made freely available.

Does Mockery require root, Magisk, or LSPosed?

No. Mockery is designed strictly around Android's supported mock-location APIs. It requires no bootloader unlocking, no root access, and no system file tampering.

Can applications detect that a location is mocked?

Yes. Android provides official SDK APIs (such as Location.isMock() or isFromMockProvider()) so that applications can query whether a location originated from a mock provider. Mockery is an engineering and testing tool and does not attempt to conceal this flag.

Android Spoofer & Background Execution

Why does Android require Developer Options for mock locations?

To protect device security and user privacy, Android restricts mock location injection so that ordinary malware cannot manipulate your coordinates in the background without explicit user authorization. Enabling Developer Options and selecting Mockery grants this explicit permission.

Does Mockery continue mocking when the screen is locked?

Yes. Unlike standard spoofers whose simulation engines die when their Flutter or React Native UI is paused, Mockery's spoofing daemon is written in native Kotlin as an Android Foreground Service with a persistent notification. It continues polling and injecting coordinates uninterrupted while your phone is locked or running other apps.

What happens when the simulation reaches the final waypoint?

Mockery does not loop automatically. When the destination is reached, movement stops and the Spoofer holds the destination coordinate. After a 2-minute grace period, network polling automatically decays down to 10 seconds to conserve battery and mobile data, while maintaining continuous 1Hz local mock injection into Android.

Web Controller & Route Physics

Does Mockery Controller follow roads or snap to streets?

Mockery Controller generates clean straight-line movement between plotted waypoints. It does not run an internal turn-by-turn road router. However, navigation software like Google Maps frequently applies map-matching algorithms that snap nearby coordinates to road networks automatically.

How does the Route Anchor prevent sudden simulation teleporting?

When you insert, move, or delete waypoints while a simulation is actively in motion, the engine locks your current simulated position as a temporary anchor coordinate. Movement smoothly progresses toward the updated waypoint without ever teleporting back to the route start.

What happens if the browser or laptop loses internet?

The browser continues its internal simulation clock, the backend server retains the last successfully received coordinate, and the Android Spoofer continues injecting that position. Nothing jumps to an origin. When connectivity returns, the browser resynchronizes authoritative state automatically.

Can I control multiple phones from the same account?

Yes. You can generate up to 100 dedicated device credentials per account. Open multiple browser tabs (Tab 1 controlling Device A, Tab 2 controlling Device B) and simulate independent vehicle routes concurrently with zero crosstalk.

Hardware & Mockery GPS ESP

Why would I use an external ESP32 GPS instead of phone GPS?

In cars with metallized window tint or athermic windshields, phone GPS often suffers severe attenuation and drifts. A roof-mounted antenna connected to an ESP32 provides clear satellite reception and drastically reduces phone battery consumption by offloading GPS signal processing.

Why is Bluetooth recommended over Wi-Fi for Mockery ESP?

If an ESP32 operates as a standalone Wi-Fi AP without an active internet connection, Android will prompt that the network has "No Internet" and drop the link. Bluetooth Low Energy avoids network conflicts entirely, connects instantly, and consumes negligible battery.
